Music has always played an important role in the life of Polyphonia's first violinist Miranda Kovac. She began singing solos in church at the age of five and began piano lessons a little later. In 1992 she began lessons on the violin. From there she played in the L'Abri orchestra as concert mistress until she went to music school at Lee University in 1999. She studied music there with an emphasis on violin and played in the campus orchestra as well as in the small ensemble. Now Miranda is a member of L'Abri's small ambassador ensemble and participates in the orchestra when able. She also teaches violin privately. Miranda resides in Dalton with her husband and four children whom she home schools.
Abigail comes from a large family of musicians and has been involved in her family’s music ministry since her childhood, performing for church services, assisted living homes, weddings, funerals and historical reenactments. She studied violin under Miranda Kovac for more than ten years and also plays viola, piano, trumpet, and french horn but would admit that violin is her favorite. Abigail has had diverse musical opportunities including playing in brass ensembles, concert band, handbell choirs, conducting and arranging. She has played with the L’abri Symphony Orchestra and the East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra and has taught private violin, viola and piano lessons. Her desire is that God would receive all the glory for the achievements in her life. Soli Deo gloria!
Evelyn Boullain is the Violist for Polyphonia Strings. Music has been a big part of her life since she started playing the piano at age 6. A few years later, she also began playing the Viola in solo, ensemble, and orchestral settings. Evelyn has participated in accomplished wedding quartets in Upstate South Carolina as well as Dalton, GA and Chattanooga areas and has immense experience playing for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Evelyn resides with her husband, 3 children, and cat in Ringgold, Georgia.
At the age of 11, Cecilia was enrolled for violin lessons. There were not enough violins at the music school so she had to choose between her teacher’s suggestions, which were bassoon or cello. Despite being a big instrument and unknown for her at that time, she ended up picking the cello and to this day, it has been the best decision in her music career. Cecilia has been a part of orchestras, string quartets, ensembles and praise team at her church ever since. Along with Miranda and Evelyn, she founded Polyphonia Strings in January of 2015. Since then, they have consolidated as a group and continue to pour their heart and talent in each event they get to be a part of.
